Having spent two extraordinary years at the Royal College of Music in London, one of which under COVID-19 regulations, Xavier has managed to obtain his Master of Music (MMus: Comp) degree with Distinction. His time at the RCM, under the tutelage of Kenneth Hesketh in Composition and Howard Williams in Conducting as second study, has prepared him well for his upcoming PhD candidacy.
Since visiting China late 2019 as part of a music competition in Beijing, he has been preparing to obtain his doctorate in Composition from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. His PhD candidacy will be covered by a full scholarship granted by the Chinese government under the joint EU-China HPPD (High-Level People to People Dialogue) Program. Before attending the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, he will undergo a year of preparatory training at Nanjing Normal University, where he will join the third year bachelor Sinology class and receive tutoring in Mandarin as well as various auxiliary subjects surrounding Chinese culture. At the Shanghai Conservatory of Music he will be supervised by Chen Musheng.
